The Queen City building consists of 12,866 sq. ft. of residential apartments, 10,381 sq. ft. of office/retail space, and 7,116 sq. ft. of storage. Cadence Builds repositioned existing apartments, adding three additional units in the basement of the building. We performed seismic retrofitting of the building to bring structure into compliance with the City of Seattle ordinance for unreinforced masonry buildings. Seismic retrofitting procedures include floor to wall ties, rod & bearing plate installation and connection to existing joists and beams. Additional procedures include diagonal steel bracing, installation of ledgers between joists, and parapet bracing.
